Lab Assistant I

General Summary
We are seeking multiple candidates to assist with an asset management project for the Lab Services Division. This role is primarily supportive, working under supervision to conduct equipment inventory routines.

The main responsibilities of this role are routine and protocol driven. There are no research/data generation responsibilities or expectations. Training will be provided, but ideal candidates will have a demonstrable familiarity with the research laboratory environment. A professional mindset, ability to communicate transparently and concisely, and a proactive work ethic are a must.

This role is for temporary full-time (40 hours/week), Non-Exempt, Hourly, lab support position. This position is based in the Torrey Pines area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking a candidate to perform asset and inventory duties within multiple research laboratories, including labeling and serial number registration. This is a short-term project expected to span 3 - 6 weeks, with a proposed start date mid/late December 2018.

Minimum Training, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and/or Qualifications

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Demonstrable Customer Service and communication skills
  • Demonstrable familiarity in the life sciences research 
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Ability to consistently meet Employee Expectations list above
  • ​Able to safely lift items weighing up to 50 pounds and carry short distances as needed
  • Comfortable working with mobile technology



  • Estimated starting salary is $18/hour.


Employment Requirements

  • Legally allowed to work in California
  • Valid Driver's License. Reliable personal transportation required.
  • Available to work within the core business hours of 7AM to 6PM, Monday through Friday.
    • Typical schedule is 8AM - 5PM, Monday through Friday
  • Company-sponsored relocation: not available
  • Must pass a pre-employment background checks, including a driving record check and drug screen
